I began my career in Physical Therapy in the early part of 1996 with a company in Austin called Rehability. I was brought into that company as a Work Capacity Specialist. In this position, I was responsible for completing a lot of test and measurement on individuals either applying for physically demanding jobs or for people trying to return to any type of a job after being out because of an injury. I was also an instructor who would go out to different companies teaching their employees proper ergonomic setups for their work stations as well as teaching stretching and light exercise routines for the workplace. As the industry changed and the company I worked for was purchased by another, my role evolved as well. I began working with Outpatient Orthopedic Physical Therapy Rehab Patients and managing their exercise programs in addition to working with worker’s comp cases.
Over the next 11 years, I worked entirely in an outpatient clinical setting at the Seton Spine and Rehabilitation Center creating, organizing, managing, & progressing exercise programs as appropriate for the individual patients according to their diagnosis. I am skilled in the use of tissue healing techniques and integrate this into treatment sessions. I believe in a balanced approach to healing. Throughout the years, I have had multiple continuing education courses relating to the treatment of multiple orthopedic issues. I use an optimistic approach to all treatment and I am an encourager throughout the treatment process.
I started Yo Ed Sessions in 2016 because I have seen so many people in need of treatment be turned away due to their insurance benefits or lack thereof. I would also see people have to wait for weeks to be seen based on a number of different factors. The design behind what I do is to give the client more control over such matters and to make it affordable to all. I will not turn people away because of their financial situation. Together, we come up with a plan that we're both comfortable with and carry on.
In the summer of 2018, I began also working for Neufit (www.neu.fit). I am a Rehab Provider for Neufit and I am integrating services of YoEd and Neufit in some of my off campus sessions. We use the latest and most result driving instrument during sessions called the Neubie. This is an electric stimulation device that uses a D/C current (vs. the typical A/C current used in most estim devices) to tap into the neurological system and work with the brain and body to assist in creating immediate and lasting change.
When working with me outside of the clinic, the client decides which of the services they would like to subscribe to. Yo Ed’s pricings now reflects Yo Ed Sessions Services including use of the Neubie. I continue to offer affordable prices and will work with each individual in need. This technology combined with appropriate protocol is making amazing and immediate differences in the lives of the ones currently using it for their healthcare issues.
I am also a classically trained Baritone Vocalist (Southwest Texas State University School of Music) and I still sing and perform for various events including Weddings, Funerals, National Anthems and Churches. I was the worship director for Lake Heights Church in Lakeway in 2001. I was an assistant worship leader at Gateway Church from 2002 to 2012. I also assisted leading congregational worship at Austin Oaks Church in South Austin from 2013 through 2018.
I enjoy running, racquetball, conditioning workouts, and tennis. Aging is no joke…so, I am slowing down on my activity level these days!
